Ahhh...., I've found the old FMC mag from May / March 1996.
There's a detailed list of the 13 highest hills in the N. I. Including all sub-peaks, + their respective heights.
(These hills are all over 1700m.)
(success on these summits is always dependent on weather & snow conditions.)

I've ascended 8 highest mntn summits in tramping boots during early Autumn (Jan to March), so they can be classified as possible peaks to be bagged. (From Tahurangi on Ruapehu to Iron Peg in the Ruahines at a lowly 1703m.)

This could be a new mini-list on peakbagging.co.ms
Anyone to 2nd this motion?

After 8 Highest Hills (see my article in latest issue of Intrepid MagZine)
The next two highest are in Kaimanawa Ranges south of Waipakihi River. Need access okay thru army area, I think.
Also included was Mt Hikirangi, a couple of hrs along ridge from top of Mangaweka, Ruahines.

I just KNEW there was a reason we had to throw in Hikurangi as well that day, Vino  Grin

yeah i doubt the ruahines hikurangi gets anywhere near the definition of seperate peak under the alpine club conditions...i think they ask for a 300 metre drop between peaks to count. we woulda dropped only 100m from mangaweka?

its a huge can of worms this one!! however i like my top 10 list. get much past that and you have to tackle whanokao...ouch!

Yeah, I think the "top 10" is a nice round number to stop at  Grin
