I did this a few years back and I can verify that the peak itself does not take 6-7 days to get up!!
You could easily boat to the bottom and walk from there.
From the track, it's a brisk 2-4 hour scramble, depending on your level of fitness.
The track is there all the way up, and I would consider the level of difficulty of this peak only 2/5.
A beautiful veiw from the top - I have nice panorama series if anyone wants the pics.
