Elevation on my map says 495m. Originally came up here with the intention of creating an 'Undie 500' race. Being just shy of 500m, I thought it would be fun to have teams race up here in their underwear carrying ladders. The first team to stand on the top of the ladder at 500m elev was the winner. However when I came up to check out 'ladder access', I was disappointed to find that there was already a 5m high viewing platform at the top!

An easy walk up a good track which takes you in a loop, which is a nice change. Good views and you can see Wairere Falls out to the east from here. Yes, a possibility.

It's out in the boon-docks between Cambridge and Matamata.

If you don't know Wairere falls, you MUST go there. These are one of the most spectacular falls I've ever been to, and I've heard are the 2nd highest falls in NZ? They come down off the top of the Kaimais, out the back of Matamata. Very nice track up to the top, complete with bridges and a very impressive staircase! Spectacular views from the very top of the falls - especially if you jump the lookout platform and walk out to the edge...

Last time up it took me 26 mins, but you'd probably want to allow around 1.5 hours walking. Nice place to take the kids and dog on a summers day with beautiful rocky stream to swim in on the way. Highly recommended   Smiley
