Yes I know it is only a 'Hill', but it is 224m and has historical significance - Maori Pa sites and iwi ties.

Good steep trek, they say 45 minutes, which meant about 23 minutes steady walk. Great views over Tauranga and the coast north and Te Puke and the Coast south... a bit cloudy today, but on a clear day you could see the hills near Lake Rotoiti near Rotorua.

http://www.envbop.govt.nz/Discover-Our-Region/Papamoa-Hills-Regional-Park.aspx is the Environment BOP web reference.

All in all a good quick steep climb... recommended.

Yes, the trig at Papamoa Hills Historic Scenic Whatever Reserve is a little beauty - romantic with the sunset & fish'n'chips & thermos. You just have to beat the gate being closed before you return! Have had to jog down to save the car many a time!
Definitely one of Taurangas best kept secrets & 2nd only to 'The Mount.'

Must go onto The List.

I've moved this into the committee room for a decision.

What do we think?

A real baby one, but given it's proximity to a city and historical significance?

OmaGosh & I went for a recce up here yesterday. A surprisingly popular walk, especially since I'd never heard of it - but have now thanks to this site  Cheesy
A very family friendly and easy stroll up with a very broad and well graded path. Nice views and very well signposted with the opportunity of other walks off the main path to visit the several other pa sites in this immediate area.
It took us about 40 minutes walking very slowly (OmaGosh had a sore foot). Only effectively a short walk up a hill, but a very nice walk to do, with great views. With the interesting landscape, history and accessability combined with the the trig to seal the deal, yeah I'd probably give this a thumbs up.
