Moheau track has been closed for over 5 years because of conservation reasons (kiwi) and the fact that many rescues seemed to be initated by people hiking this track. I emailed DOC and rang Coromandel visitors centre and they both said the same thing...closed. The spot x trampers guide does have it listed as a track but this is incorrect and obviously not properly researched as to the status of this track (doesnt surprise me the thing is riddled with errors)
The western access at hope stream was across private land and apparently the owners aren't to friendly with uninvited guests according to ranger at visitors centre at base of pinnacles, so wouldn't just march up for a looksie
Apparently he said the track from the eastern side is still open part way up, but not all the way to the top
All a shame as it was a peak I really wanted to do.
Table mountain is on public land and nothing to stop people going up there but there is no track at all. see all previous discussion re above.

Wonder how hard it'd be to get a phone number for the farmer?
So was it the eastern side the helicopter tours were using? I'll take my kids up that side one day when they're a little more mud tolerant.
Table mountain will have to wait a few more years than that thou. I'm sure the track will still be there, it was so well worn ~13 years ago, can't imagine much growing too fast in that mud/slop, and the venetian blind markers are probably still there. Just been looking at some photos, that mud really was horrid/deep.
There was a photo of us at a wooden trig, which I guess was Mt Rowe.

There is still a track of sorts up to Mt Rowe - this is a mud wallow, followed by a bit of minor bush bashing near the end to get to the trig at Mt Rowe. From here however, THERE IS NO TRACK - trust me! The track markers have been removed, and it is full-on bush bashing from the Mt Rowe trig onwards. I've done it a couple of times recently, and only found the occasional trace of track further on Table Mountain itself, which disappeared again quickly and wasn't any help anyway. Sounds like there may now be a marked track down the western side however. This would be nice, as it was supplejack Hell down there when I did it last. I would strongly recommend doing Table Top with a GPS and with waypoints loaded. Let me know if you need help here. The bush is above head height and you can't see any landmarks to navigate with by compass - very easy to get lost up there!
